Is just planting the trees enough? How do you know if they will live?

The whole idea behind planting trees to offset carbon is that the trees will live to provide the offsets.

This Railroad has the right idea in planting trees – but who will take care of them to make sure they live? As anyone who grows trees will tell you, the first few years are the most critical. I am curious if anyone will ever follow up to see how many trees are left after 5 years. Now that they Railroad has planted them, will they plant new trees every year? Our system is designed to answer this problem and more. Our trees have already been planted and are at least a year old, and no older than 10 years. This makes sure that the offsets gained from our credits will be realized and can be done close to their location – in Colorado. That just makes sense to us. Plus, with Greenzone Certified Credits, you have a 3rd party oversight to make sure that the credits you buy actually go towards trees that live to help offset the carbon you are spending the money to offset.
